Iran has launched an air strike on US bases in Qatar and Iraq in retaliation to the US attacking nuclear sites over the weekend.
America directly involved themselves in the war in the Middle East between Saturday night and Sunday morning when they launched an air strike on Iran.
Iran warned of "everlasting consequences" in the aftermath and now they have launched an air strike on US military bases in Qatar.
The attack was first pre-empted by Qatar closing their airspace and then reports of "credible" threat of an Iranian airstrike on US bases.
The UAE swiftly followed suit.
Reports first came through today (23 June) at around 17:45 BST of explosions heard overhead in Doha.
In a statement shared by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran has confirmed the attack, citing the "blatant military aggression" of the "criminal regime of the United States of America".
It added that Iran "will not leave any attack on its territorial integrity, sovereignty and national security unanswered under any circumstances".
A video allegedly showed air defences in Qatar being activated to intercept missiles likely directed at the al-Udeid base.
Ain al Asad airbase in Iraq has reportedly also been targeted, as per Sky News.
The al-Udeid base is a massive facility that can host around 10,000 personnel and has previously hosted the RAF.
Qatar has now confirmed that there have been no casualties from the attack.
It added that it reserves the right to respond directly and in accordance with international law.
Qatar said its air defences intercepted a missile attack.
The New York times has reported that Iran pre-warned Qatar about the attack so they could evacuate personnel and move equipment.
The report suggests that this was done as a strategy to save face and provide "an exit ramp" to those involved.
This is yet to be officially confirmed.
Latest reports say that top US military leaders are currently in the White House's Situation Room deliberating how to respond.
