Ireland is about to get some typical Leaving Cert weather this week

Nothing brings out the sun like state exams.

There’s just something about thousands of students studying for and sitting the Leaving Cert that makes the sun want to shine extra bright for a few weeks.

According to Met Éireann, this week will be no different, with temperatures in the high teens and low twenties throughout.

Monday will be a “warm day, with a mix of sunny spells and cloudy periods. Most places dry, but scattered heavy or thundery showers will develop in the afternoon and early evening. Top temperatures of 22 to 25 C., generally, but in the high teens in some coastal areas, with moderate on shore sea breezes.”

While there will be some thundery showers on Tuesday, it’s still mostly good news: “Top temperatures 19 to 22 C., generally, but in the mid to high teens in many coastal areas, in local moderate sea breezes. Most of the showers dying out overnight. A misty night, with some fog patches in places. Lowest temperatures 9 to 12 C.”

The Leaving Cert will kick off on Wednesday June 6, a day which will see “top temperatures 19 to 22 C., generally, but in the high teens in coastal areas. Winds light to moderate variable with local sea breezes.”

However, it’s not all bad news for Leaving Cert students, as Met Éireann predicts that the weather will become “cooler and more changeable” from Thursday onwards.
