Ireland has been named in the top 10 places to live in the world

Joe Harrington

Up ya boyos.

The Irish football team beat Germany in EURO 2016 qualify earlier this year, but we’re level with them in a new survey of the top ten places to live in the world.

Ireland and Germany are joint sixth in the survey by Human Development Index (HDI), which moves us up two places from last year.

The assessment has three categories to analyse the area’s developments – long and healthy lifestyle, access to knowledge and a decent standard of living.

Here’s a breakdown of the top ten.

1. Norway
2. Sydney
3. Switzerland
4. Denmark
5. Netherlands
6. Ireland
6. Germany
8. New York
9. Canada
10. New Zealand

How great is that? Our little island up there with the best in the world. Fantastic news.

Here’s a glimpse at our beautiful country.
