Holy sh*t…

It’s looking like this spell of gorgeous weather is going to spread into a second week.

As reported yesterday, there’s a status yellow high temperature warning issued for Ireland which is valid until 9pm on Friday night.

Met Éireann has said that temperatures will be so high this week, that we might even record the second highest temperature ever in this country according to Meteorologist Siobhan Ryan of Met Éireann.

“Over the next few days its only going to get hotter, with mid to high 20s on average, and temperatures could touch 30-31 degrees in some parts,” she said on RTÉ’s Six One.

“There has only been a handful of times where temperatures here have just exceeded 30 degrees.

“We could be looking at the second highest ever temperature in Ireland before the week’s end.”

The highest temperature ever recorded in Ireland was 33.3 degrees, this was in Kilkenny in 1887.

People have been urged by the Fire Brigade not to leave mirrors, crystals and glasses on windowsills as they can cause fires in the strong sun. Cans of deoderant and hairspray can also explode under the pressure of heat.

Irish Water have also urged people to conserve water as supplies are already under pressure in the current heatwave.

It’s understood that night time water restrictions are being considered.
