Ireland ranks very favourably on the list of the most generous countries in the world

We’re a generous shower of feckers…

The Charity Aid Foundation’s World Giving Index has been released which works out the most generous countries in the world and compiles them into a handy list.

CAF’s World Giving Index is now in its seventh year and by judging three different kinds of giving, it gives a simple and clear idea of charitable behaviour across the world.

They score it by averaging the percentage of people in each country who donated money, volunteered or helped a stranger in the past month and this year they surveyed 140 different countries.

It turns out that in this part of the world, we’re very generous with our giving as Ireland ranked in ninth place overall out of all the countries surveyed.

But for the third year in-a-row, Myanmar (Burma) has been declared the most generous country in the world.
