Ireland could be set for a scorching weekend following Met Éireann's latest forecast, which predicts that the weekend could see temperatures as high as 30 degrees.
The high temperatures are set to continue into next week according to the forecaster.
Today (Tuesday, July 8) is set to see temperatures of 25 degrees. The weather is expected to remain humid during the week with some isolated showers.
However, Friday is when things are set to become hotter with Met Éireann saying: "After a foggy start for southern areas, widespread sunshine will likely develop. Becoming hot in sunshine with highest temperatures of 22 to 27 or 28 degrees, all in light southerly breezes."
As for Saturday, they predict: "Likely another very warm or hot day with widespread sunshine, and highest temperatures of 23 to 27 or 28 degrees, with light to moderate southeasterly winds."
Kenneth McDonagh at the Donegal Weather Channel said: "Temperatures set to rise to 30C by the weekend.
"The deeper we get into this week the warmer it will get with every passing day with a real improvement from Wednesday and temperatures into the high 20s even low 30s by the weekend.
"The weekend is now looking very warm and hot.
"There are also signs that the warm and hot spell could continue into next week also."
The Irish Weather Channel's Cathal Nolan shared a similar forecast, saying: "A period of hot conditions commencing as early as Wednesday in some parts, though more widely from Thursday through until Monday.
"During this period a blocking high over Scandinavia and a steering low situated to our west will feed in a hot continental airmass leading to well above average temperatures with values pushing close to 30C in some areas on Friday and again through the weekend."
