Ireland in top countries worldwide for getting most sleep and steps in

Great to hear.

Like many other services, Fitbit has released bespoke “year in review” data, uncovering global findings related to activity, sleep, stress and more across its community in 2022.

In good news for Irish-based users of the fitness company’s products, Ireland ranked among the top five countries in the world for achieving the most steps and getting the most sleep.

It also made the top five countries worldwide in terms of maintaining the best stress management score, which Fitbit measures based on recent activity, sleep and heart rate variability.

The following countries also placed alongside Ireland in the categories:

  • Achieved the most steps: Hong Kong, Italy, Spain, Switzerland
  • Got the most sleep: Belgium, Finland, New Zealand, the Netherlands
  • Had the best stress management score: Denmark, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands,

Meanwhile, the countries that logged the most active zone minutes – which Fitbit describes as minutes of “any heart-pumping activity” – were Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.

In terms of the other data released in the year in review, walking was the top exercise amongst the Fitbit community in 2022.

The company’s users also accumulated a whopping 47 trillion total steps globally throughout the year, with May being the month with the most steps.

As well as this, Fitbit users averaged 6.5 hours of sleep per night, with 11:17pm being the average bedtime and 7.00am being the average waketime.
