Ireland weather forecast conditions are turning sunnier this week, Met Éireann says, as a dry spell follows a wet and blustery stretch nationwide.
Met Éireann has forecast a dramatic shift this week with a sodden, blustery stretch giving way to a run of largely dry, sunny weather.
Saturday itself will feel like autumn at its best for most of the country.
Only the northwest sees a spot of early rain. Sunday opens with patches of mist and fog, plus a few light showers out west.
The east and southeast fare best on Sunday. Sunny spells build through the day, pushing highs to 19C, an unseasonably warm, humid day for early October.
Cold mornings and mild afternoons revive a familiar question for households managing bills, whether it's cheaper to leave the heater on low all day.
Dry spells like this also suit a weekend away: one live offer is a four-star Killarney hotel deal with late checkout and 52% off.
Met Éireann's Extended Range Forecast points to a settled run beyond the weekend. High pressure should dominate.
Rainfall will fall below average nationwide, especially in the south, while temperatures sit close to or just above the seasonal norm.
Met Éireann itself calls the outlook "generally settled conditions" for next week. Saturday was billed as "a pleasant day" for most, with "spells of autumn sunshine developing" through the day. That came according to Galway Beo's report on the forecast.
Saturday afternoon temperatures should reach 14C to 17C under light southerly breezes. Mist and fog may linger along southern coasts before clearing.
Tonight stays largely dry and clear in the early evening, then cloud and patchy drizzle build across Atlantic counties.
Saturday is dry and sunny for most, with afternoon temperatures of 14C to 17C. Sunday brings early mist and a few showers in the west, but the east and southeast get the best of it, with highs of 19C.
Met Éireann expects overnight lows of 5C to 11C, with patchy drizzle developing along Atlantic coastal counties and mist or fog in the south Midlands.
