Ireland’s sexiest accent has been revealed and it’s all about that lilt.
Incredible scenery, two of Ireland’s greatest ever goalkeepers (cheers Packie, cheers Shay), a slower (and happier) pace of life and the sexiest damn accents in all the land.
Donegal has it all.
According to research by the hotel chain Jury’s Inn, Donegal people have been judged to have the sexiest accents in Ireland.
Over 1,000 people were questioned for the survey and a massive 37% felt the dulcet tones from the north-west beat the rest of the country hands down.
At JOE, we’ve always been suckers for the Cork accent and the Leesiders didn’t fare too badly either with 13% of the vote; Dublin came third on 12%.
If you were born in the capital, there is one piece of very good news – a massive 28% of people thought Dublin men were the most handsome in the 32 counties, with 27% believing Dublin women to be the most beautiful in the country.
The survey also revealed that 24% of Irish people find French to be the sexiest overseas accent, followed by Aussies (18%) and Italians (17%).
Suzanne Cannon, Head of Marketing at Jurys Inn, said: “Valentine’s Day has become a fun day for all to pamper people they love, whether it’s a romantic, familial or platonic relationship. While our research has some playful findings, it also shows that the Irish have a lot of love to give!”
