Late last night, parts of Donald Trump’s executive order banning people from Muslim-majority nations from entering the United States were stayed thanks to a habeas corpus writ from the American Civil Liberties Union.
Those who support attempts to battle the executive order were urged to donate to the ACLU — a non-profit organisation that fights for the rights of people in America.
Patrick Collison, one of the co-founders of Stripe, has offered to match donations up to $50,000 to the organisation. He revealed on Twitter that his younger brother had made a donation of the same amount in December, saying “They’re going to matter.”
Admitting that he wishes he had done the same, the Limerick man is now encouraging others to support the ACLU and send him a screen shot of their receipt.
In Dec, @collision made a large donation to the ACLU—"they're going to matter". I wish I had. Will now match $50k. https://t.co/kbrh16NGV8
