Irish boy critically ill after being discovered in pool in Spain
The alarm was raised around 9am on Monday morning.
An Irish boy is in a critical condition after a swimming pool incident in Spain.
The boy, reported by local media to be five years old, was on holidays with his family outside Alicante when the incident happened.
It's understood the alarm was raised when the boy was found in the pool at around 9am local time in the Aldeas del Aguamarina Complex in the holiday region of Alicante in southern Spain.
Emergency services were called and the boy was airlifted to hospital by helicopter.
The boy is now in a critical condition in Spanish hospital.
