Tributes have been pouring in for the Irish dad who died trying to save his daughter from drowning in Australia.

The father and his family were swimming at Seven Mile Beach in New South Wales.

During the beach trip, their daughter was swept out to see on a bodyboard.

Her father and mother desperately tried to bring her back to shore.

The mother successfully made it back to shore with her daughter, but the dad was unable to make it back.

After reaching the shore, the pair called emergency services.

Two police officers also tried to save the man but were unable to bring him back to shore.

He was eventually retrieved from the water at around 7 pm. Paramedics gave him CPR, but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed the family was from Lennox Head, but the father was an Irish citizen.

According to The Independent, the beach was unpatrolled at the time of the incident.

Police confirmed;

“The family is from Lennox Head; officers from Richmond Police District have alerted the Irish Consulate of the man’s death.”

“A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.”
