Irish Ferries has warned that they are “unlikely” to operate a service from Rosslare to France in the new year.
In a message posted on their official Twitter account on Tuesday, Irish Ferries wrote: “Irish Ferries wish to inform our customers that we’re unlikely to operate a service between Rosslare & France in 2019. We continue to keep this situation under review.”
The company previously ran four services a week to France from Rosslare — two to Cherbourg and two to Roscoff, respectively.
Pressed on the issue by customers on social media, Irish Ferries have sought to justify the decision, writing: “We do apologise if this does not suit you on this occasion. Feedback from our customers suggests that it is easier to travel to Dublin Port for most people than it is to get to Rosslare.”
Irish Ferries wish to inform our customers that we're unlikely to operate a service between Rosslare & France in 2019. We continue to keep this situation under review. Our new W.B. Yeats ship will operate from Dublin to Cherbourg & is available to book on https://t.co/1rjF6XTLpL

Irish Ferries have also noted that it will continue to operate services to France from Dublin, and that its new WB Yeats ship will continue to make journeys to Cherbourg roughly once a week.
