Irish man dies ‘while on holidays’ in the Maldives

The Department of Foreign Affairs are providing consular assistance.

An Irish man has sadly passed away in the Maldives.

The man was on holidays on the Indian Ocean island at the time, according to TV3 News.

He is reported to have died after he got into difficulty while he was swimming.

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed to the station that they were aware of the case.

They also said that they are providing consular assistance to the man’s family.

Ireland does not have a resident embassy in the Maldives.

Any citizens who may need consular assistance are advised to get in contact with the Irish embassy in New Delhi.
