The incident resulted in two deaths and three people severely injured.
An Irish man and a woman he was travelling with her killed in a two-car collision in upstate New York this weekend.
The incident is said to have occurred around 3pm on Saturday 25 May, with another three people injured in the collision.
NYS Police and the Jonesville Fire Department are currently on the scene of a two vehicle crash that happened near the intersection of Route 9 and Ushers Rd. in Clifton Park. Local New York newspaper The Daily Gazette have reported that a 58-year-old man “has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular manslaughter, as well as driving while intoxicated”.
Newstalk have reported that the deceased Irishman has been named as 33-year-old John A. Heneghan, from Mayo, while the woman has been 32-year-old Caitlyn J. Holtzman, both of whom currently hold addresses in New York.
The three people who were injured have also been named: 24-year-old Julia Staples, 25-year-old Luke O’Doherty and 25-year-old Enda Crowley.
