Great news for Ireland fans.

Iarnród Éireann announced on Friday that on the recommendation of the Labour Court, all upcoming Irish Rail strikes regarding the current trade union pay claim are to be suspended.

The company said that they welcome the suspension and now unions will undertake a ballot on the Labour Court’s recommendations of a 7.5% pay-rise over the next three years.

In short, full services will operate on 14 and 23 November as well as the 8 December and this includes additional DART, Commuter and Intercity services for the Republic of Ireland v Denmark World Cup play-off on 14 November.

In a statement, Iarnród Éireann wrote; “The company thanks the Labour Court for arranging a hearing of the issues surrounding the current dispute, and for the urgency with which it considered the submissions and issued its recommendation.

“This has ensured that after two days of industrial action, customers will not suffer any further disruption in the immediate term.

“The company is reviewing the Court’s recommendation in the context of its challenging financial position.”

The company had already carried out two one-day strikes (1 and 7 November) which caused chaos among commuters throughout the country.

Customers who purchase monthly and annual season tickets, including through their company as part of the Taxsaver scheme, can apply for a refund for the days impacted by the industrial action.

These will be processed at the end of the industrial action in a single process and a dedicated refund form will be available at the conclusion of the industrial action.
