The weather could be set for a swift change next month.
Although it may seem as if summer is well and truly en route, one forecaster has warned that the chilly Irish weather may not be over just yet.
While the past week or so has brought clear(ish) skies and a pleasant lick of sun, some forecasters have warned of an unusual shift in Irish weather as we move into the month of May.
While May, for some, marks the official beginning of Ireland's summer, it looks as if we may be facing some "unusually cold air" moving down across the country from the start of the month.
Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said via Twitter this week:
"Those that follow the Celtic seasons say summer starts in May. Well, the weather show a risk of unusually cold air moving down around the start of May with high pressure to the north.
He added: "Far from certain but something to keep an eye on."

Despite this mild warning for the weeks ahead, Met Éireann has said that this week, at least, looks set to be very nice indeed.
The national forecaster said:
“[Friday] morning will be largely dry with hazy sunny spells and just isolated light showers. It will become cloudier over the southern half of the country through the day with scattered outbreaks of rain at times. Becoming breezy in moderate to fresh east to northeast winds with highest temperatures of 13C to 16C."
Friday night will continue to be mostly dry leading into Saturday, where the morning will see sunny spells across the northern half of the country.
In the south there may be light patches of rain and scattered showers as the afternoon approaches.
According to Met Éireann, "the showers will be most frequent in the south and east but by evening most areas will be dry. Highest temperatures of 12C to 15C degrees in a moderate to fresh northeasterly breeze.
“Dry with sunny spells during the morning on Sunday but well scattered showers will pop up in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 11C to 15C, mildest in the southwest, with the light to moderate northeasterly wind continuing.”
Well, at least that's something.
