Met Éireann issues fresh weather warnings as ‘very strong gusts’ to cause ‘disruption’

One warning takes effect today.

Met Éireann has issued a number of Status Yellow wind warnings as ‘very strong gusts’ are set to cause ‘disruption’.

One alert will take effect from 3pm to 9pm on Tuesday, 11 April. It applies to Carlow, Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Meath, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.

“Strong southerly winds, veering westerly. Very strong gusts expected for a short time this afternoon and evening, causing some disruption,” the warning reads.

Also, newly published is a Status Yellow wind warning for the province of Leinster, as well as the counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford.

Taking effect from between 8am and 8pm on Wednesday, the alert states:

“Very strong northwest winds developing. Widespread gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h expected, stronger in exposed areas.”

These latest alerts follow another Status Yellow wind warning already issued for Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Limerick and Mayo.

This warning will be valid from 1am to 5pm on Wednesday and reads:

“Very strong west to northwest winds developing. Widespread gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h expected, stronger in coastal areas and over higher ground. Wave overtopping in coastal areas.”

Meanwhile, in its forecast for the rest of the week after Wednesday, Met Éireann says conditions are set to be “unsettled or changeable and cool”.
