The police operation identified “a sophisticated syndicate”.

A 36-year-old Irish man has been arrested in Australia as part of a four-month operation into the supply of illicit drugs.

According to Perth Now, Stephen Donnelly, an Irish DJ was arrested as part of what police described as an operation aimed at the “dismantling” of a “sophisticated” drug syndicate.

The operation identified a sophisticated syndicate that transported MDMA and cocaine from the United Kingdom to Darwin

Police said the syndicate had been transporting narcotics from Europe into Australia.

“This is another excellent result for Taskforce Nemesis, which is committed to providing a multi-agency approach to combat illicit substances that enter the Territory,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said on Northern Territory’s Facebook page.

“The message to drug traffickers is simple: Your business is not welcome here, and we will continue to use all resources available to dismantle your trade and bring you to justice.

Police allege that the four men have been involved in multiple importations of narcotics over the past year, and contribute significantly to the Darwin cocaine and MDMA market.

UK national (31), a French national (24) and an Australian man (41) were all arrested and charged alongside Donnelly.

None of the men applied for bail and all four were remanded in custody until December 6.
