The victim is reportedly fighting for his life.
According to Yahoo Australia, two Irish men are in custody following a serious assault in Australia.
Christopher McLaughlin, 24, and Nathan Kelly, 21, were charged with reckless grievous bodily harm in company and affray after emergency services found a 66-year-old man injured on the side of the road at Summer Hill on Saturday 29 December.
Summer Hill is a suburb of Sydney.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The victim of the attack is reportedly fighting for his life. His name has not been made public.
The two Irishmen are set to appear at Burwood Local Court on 9 January.
