The conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Iran has been raging for 12 days now as US President Donald Trump dubbed the conflict the 12-day war.

Fighting erupted after Israel decided to attack Iran in order to nullify what they claimed was a nuclear threat.

Iran has long had stockpiles of Uranium, but only enriched to 5%, enough for creating nuclear energy.

However, in recent weeks, the nuclear watchdog found Iran had 60% enriched uranium, a level which has little purpose but as a marker on the road to 90% enrichment, enough for a nuclear warhead.

Iran had been somewhat complying with the west in a nuclear deal where it was removing its stockpile of uranium, however, after Donald Trump ended this deal in early May.

This deal was seeing Iran reduce its nuclear activity in exchange for reduced sanctions from the west.

However, on multiple occasions, tensions had incited Iran to enrich uranium up to 60%, such as in April 2021 when a sabotage attack struck the Natanz enrichment plant.
