It’s been confirmed that Ireland is going to take in 4,000 refugees

Ireland to grant access to thousands of migrants

Colm Boohig

We’re going to play our part in easing the refugee crisis.

The European migration crisis has really hit boiling point over the last couple of weeks and the Irish government has, this morning, responded.

Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald has announced plans to grant access to thousands of migrants fleeing wars in Syria, Eritrea, and Iraq a new home.

The idea is invite in 2,900 “persons seeking international protection”, while an additional 520 refugees are being resettled and 600 others already committed under the EU Relocation programme.

Many of the migrants could land in Ireland over the next few weeks, with a lot more expected by the end of the year.
