At least 40 people are injured following the incident in Japan.
Japanese police have confirmed that a number of people were injured in an explosion that took place in a restaurant.
The cause of the explosion is not yet known. Eyewitnesses reported smelling gas in the area following the explosion, according to Japanese news agency Kyodo.
BBC have reported that one of the people injured is in a serious condition.
The incident took place in the Toyohira district in Hokkaido, Japan.
Police have since sealed off the area amid fears of more explosions.

The emergency services were first alerted to the explosion at about 11.30 on Sunday morning.
