Just the President of Ireland queuing for an ATM on Baggot Street, as you do

We’re not exactly sure why we love these photos so much, we just do.

We’re not exactly sure why we love these photos so much, we just do.

Stroll through Dublin City on a normal day or week and there’s bound to be one or two things that’ll catch your eye, but, normal as it for a man to go to the ATM to withdraw some cash, it’s not often you see the President of your own country doing exactly that.

And not only that, but waiting patiently in line to do so rather than making use of a presidential privilege that allows him to skip all queues everywhere in Ireland, a privilege that might not be official, but that we’re sure exists in an unspoken capacity nonetheless.

El Presidente was spotted at an AIB Banklink on Baggot Street yesterday afternoon by @AwningsIreland on Twitter accompanied by what we imagine is a minder and waiting for a man who probably can’t believe that the President of Ireland is next in line behind him. Better key that pin code in correctly the first time fella!

Like we said, we’re not sure what it is about these photos that we got such a kick out of – it is a man waiting in line for an ATM after all – but you certainly wouldn’t expect to spot Barack Obama, for example, queuing for a cash machine in Washington; we had figured that Michael D would have had his own private banklink in the Áras or something.

Imagine if it was out of order? Wouldn’t that be a kick in the balls?
