Kate Moss denies Amber Heard claim that Johnny Depp pushed her down staircase

Moss said Depp ‘carried me to my room and got me medical attention’.

Kate Moss has spoken in defence of her ex-boyfriend Johnny Depp, denying Amber Heard’s claim that the actor pushed the supermodel down the stairs.

Testifying via video link on Wednesday (25 May), Moss was asked about an incident in Jamaica when the pair – who dated for four years in the 90s – were staying at the GoldenEye resort.

Moss recalled the incident in detail and said Depp had come to her aid.

“We were leaving the room, and Johnny left the room before I did, and there had been a rainstorm,” she said.

“And as I left the room I slipped down the stairs and I hurt my back. And I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain. And he (Depp) came running back to help me. And carried me to my room. And got me medical attention.”

Moss’ name came up in the courtroom earlier this month during Heard’s testimony, when she described a time that Depp allegedly “[swung] at” her sister while she had her back to a staircase.

Heard said this reminded her of another incident during which she alleged Depp pushed Moss down stairs while they were dating. “I just, in my head, instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs,” she told the court.

According to The Associated Press, The Aquaman actress made the claim during Depp’s 2020 libel claim against The Sun newspaper, which he lost.

The publication quoted Heard as saying: “He was about to push her down the stairs and the moment before that happened, I remembered information I had heard that he pushed a former girlfriend — I believe it was Kate Moss — down the stairs.”

Moss and Depp dated for about four years beginning in 1994. Until this testimony, Moss had never publicly responded to Heard’s claim.

Depp is suing Heard for $50m over an op-ed she wrote which he believes inferred he physically and sexually abused her. Heard is counter-suing for $100m.
