A man in Kildare won over €250,000 on a €2 Lotto bet.

On Saturday 10 February, Derek Delaney placed two bets on the National Lottery numbers in his local BoyleSports branch in Newbridge.

Putting  €2 on the five numbers 8, 9, 27, 32 and 45, while also placing €1 on the four numbers 8, 9, 27 and 32, he faced down odds of 250,000/1. Scooping up €250,002 for the five numbers and a further €7,501 for the latter four numbers, his total winnings amounted to €257,503.

Commenting on the win at the Newbridge branch Tuesday, BoyleSports head of communications, Leon Blanche said: “It is simply incredible and heart-warming to see one of our loyal customers win such a life changing sum of money, which is made all the more sweet as he only placed a small €3 bet. Scooping €250000 is no mean feat, but also to bag an extra €7,500 on the same numbers is astonishing.”
