Hundreds of jobs in construction and retail are expected to be created as a result.

29 new stores, two new restaurants and 460 parking spaces will be added to Kildare Village in the near future after Kildare County Council granted planning for an extension of the retail outlet on Tuesday.

According to Offaly Express, Kildare County Council gave the green light to what will be the third extension of the retail outlet following a revised proposal by Value Retail Dublin Ltd.

Having originally lodged plans for an extension expected to cost €50 million in May of last year, Value Retail Dublin Ltd returned with a revised proposal after Kildare County Council sought further information on the plans last July, specifically plans for access to the retail outlet from Kildare town centre.

As part of the plans submitted by Value Retail Dublin Ltd, a number of existing shops will be demolished to make way for the new stores and a two-storey car park at the retail outlet.
