Kilkenny to build a bridge, and name it after Henry Shefflin

If rumours in Kilkenny are to be believed, Cats legend Henry Shefflin will be honoured by having a bridge named after him in the city.

With a new bridge to be put in place in the city centre before the end of the month, it looks as though King Henry could have his name on the crossing between Bateman Quay and John’s Quay on the River Nore.

Not generally known for having people walk all over him, that could well change and it is all thanks to the suggestion by the president of Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce and industry Donie Butler.

According to The Kilkenny People, no name had yet been agreed for the new bridge and all suggestions are to be sent to the City Hall or to the Kilkenny People website, so we expect the Shefflin suggestion to get further endorsements.
