Footage has emerged showing the extent of the snow at the airport on Monday.

Heavy snow is currently impacting the flight schedule at Knock Airport, as airport staff are finding it challenging to deal with the conditions.

A post on Twitter by Ireland West Airport, also known as Knock Airport, on Monday afternoon illustrated the impact of the conditions on the airport in Mayo on Monday.

“The current situation at the airport as heavy snow has impacted our flight schedule this afternoon,” the post accompanying the video read.

“Our operations team are working to clear the runway but current conditions and continued heavy snowfall are challenging.”

More information on the situation on flights going to and from the airport can be found at the live flight information section of the Ireland West Airport website here.

Met Éireann had flagged the snowy conditions over the weekend and a weather advisory for the entire country will remain in effect until 3pm on Tuesday.

Most recently, Met Éireann has warned of heavy or prolonged wintry showers over Munster, Connacht and west Ulster, that will spread eastwards to all areas early on Monday evening with a risk of hail and thunder.
