Honk if you love doughnuts. Or don’t.

A lot of people are very excited that Krispy Kreme has opened up an enormous, 24-hour doughnut store in Blanchardstown, Dublin… But unfortunately, that excitement is causing problem for residents in the area.

After being open for less than a week, Krispy Kreme Ireland have been forced to ask customers to stop honking their horns while in the queue for doughnuts at night. Because who doesn’t love to bang their car horn when they’re excited for doughnuts?

According to multiple reports from people living in the area, customers are honking their horns so much that residents literally cannot sleep.

Krispy Kreme are now taking action.

In a statement posted to Twitter on Tuesday night, the company wrote: “The reaction to our first store opening has been overwhelming with lots of people enjoying our doughnuts in Ireland for the first time. The queues in the store are very short, as low as 10 minutes in our express lane and the enthusiasm & smiles has been overwhelming.

“But we know too that some of the enthusiasm from some drive thru customers has resulted in sleepless nights for our neighbours. We do apologise for this and we are doing all we can to minimise the noise (especially at night).

“We’re reducing the number of cars queuing late at night, installing signage that asks drive thru customers to be respectful of our neighbours and other customers, and we’re also actively asking people to contain their excitement, by not beeping their horn while they order.

“We are working hard to resolve this issue and once again, we apologise for the noise over the past few nights. We hope this helps and thank you for understanding.”
