"If you could see the virus in the air, you would not go outside... It has killed my soulmate."
An Irish woman whose husband died after contracting Covid-19 has strongly urged people to wear face masks and stay as safe as possible.
Jenni Pim appeared on The Late Late Show on Friday night to talk about her husband Nigel, who died on 14 January due to complications related to Covid-19.
Nigel was 51.
She appealed to the public to be safe, as Ireland's Covid situation remains in a dangerous place.
She said: "I just want somebody to look at this and go 'Do you know what? I'm going on a walk with my friend tomorrow, maybe I'll wear my mask when I'm doing that. Because I don't want to see that friend in two weeks time and get a message to say they're on a ventilator in the hospital'".
As a microbiologist, she also discussed the dangers of the virus from that perspective, saying: "If you could see the virus in the air, you would not go outside. This virus kills people we love."
When asked by Tubridy what she would say to those who are "fed up" of lockdown measures, she said: "I'm fed up with it as well. It has killed my soulmate. I wish it would go away.
"Even if Nigel had survived, it's a very long road back to recovery."
