Hurricane Ophelia caused major power outages throughout Ireland on Monday, with as many as 360,000 ESB customers losing power at some point.
While many have had their power restored, the news is not so good for others. Speaking on RTÉ tonight, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed that some homes in Ireland could be without power for more than a week.
The Taoiseach also said that “the full resources of the State” would be available in restoring power to the many who have lost it.
It could be 8 days before homes are restored power. Full resources of State will be available. Next few days are about clean up. #Ophelia

The ESB Power Check website currently shows clusters of power outages across the entire Republic, from county to county. Many of the outages currently list no known restore time.
