65 separate searches were carried out.
Gardaí have arrested 12 people following a major search operation carried out in Limerick on Tuesday, 7 September.
Operation Coronation saw the deployment of over 300 Gardaí personnel attached to the Limerick Division, supported by the Criminal Assets Bureau, the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau, the Emergency Response Unit, the Armed Response Unit, the Regional Dog Unit, the Air Support Unit and members from both the Irish Defence Forces and Revenue and Customs.
In total, 65 searches were carried out at dwellings, businesses or on land near the outskirts of Limerick City.
The following items were subsequently seized:
- Six financial accounts with a total value in excess of €295,000 (later frozen)
- Cash valued at €62,500
- Five designer watches
- Three vehicles – a BMW, a Volkswagen Tiguan and a Range Rover
- Eight horses
- Currently unverified documentation
- Cannabis herb with an estimated value of €8,000
- A horse box valued at approximately €10,000
Of the 12 related arrests, seven are men and five are women.
Eight arrests are in connection with suspected money laundering offences. Two people have been arrested for suspected drug offences. One man was arrested in connection with breaches of the Control of Horses Act of 1996, while another man was arrested in connection with possession of an offensive weapon.
A number of the arrested individuals are expected to appear before Limerick District Court on Tuesday.
The operation is ongoing.
