Luas issue update on disrupted Green Line service, “extensive damage” done

Luas Green Line

Many stops have been out of action since yesterday.

The Luas Green Line was impacted by Storm Ali on Wednesday when a tree damaged the power lines between the Beechwood and Ranelagh stops.

The damage had been referred to by the company as “extensive”.

Service was immediately disrupted, and by Thursday morning, trams were still not running between Dawson St and Cowper — ruling out many of the Green Line’s most central stops.

In a statement on their website, the Luas further advised: “The service will remain for the rest of the day: Brides Glen – Cowper and Dawson — Broombridge. Customers who are using the bus service are advised to alight at Balally or Dundrum Stops for onward travel.”

This afternoon, Luas confirmed on Twitter that normal service would not resume until 5.30am on Friday morning.

Those who travel by the Luas can keep up to date with developments here.

The Red Line has not been affected by the bad weather.
