Luke 'Ming' Flanagan is one of 11 Irish MEPs in the European Parliament yet, according to him, he was the only one to attend the Agriculture Committee this morning.
In a hard-hitting Facebook post, Flanagan hits out at the other members of Ireland's European Parliament representation for not attending the meetings, claiming he's the only Irish MEP who regularly attends.
'Ming' also addressed the questions raised about his own attendance at such meetings, citing a period of three months at the beginning of his mandate where his wife was seriously ill.
Take a look at the full post below...
The post states: 'This morning I am at the Agriculture Committee. I never miss a meeting. Big deal. I get well paid for it. Too well. The question has to be asked. Why am I the only Irish MEP who regularly attends?
'This morning we are discussing a cut in the 2017 Agriculture Budget. Yesterday we discussed the Rural Development programme 2015 -2020 and yet again I was the only Irish MEP present. This is never reported by the farmers Journal or commented on by the IFA. Why? During the election we were warned not to vote for the likes of Luke 'Ming' Flanagan because "remember we only have eleven MEPs". In other words choose well. If those people were listened to we would have no one at the Agriculture Committee meetings.
'It was my intention to work with other Irish MEPs on agriculture related issues. Hard do it when they're not here! Can't wait to hear the excuses. The irony here is that if you google Luke 'Ming' Flanagan & European Parliament you get an Irish Times article saying that I don't turn up for work. The article is well out of date and refers to a period of three months at the beginning of my mandate where my wife was seriously ill. It was given wall to wall coverage by our wonderful media. Yet when people don't turn up because the couldn't be arsed we hear nothing.......
'Welcome to the land of the warped.'
