Making A Murderer’s Steven Avery has gotten some very good news, but not the kind you’d expect

Carl Kinsella

Since his nephew Brendan Dassey’s conviction was overturned, Steven Avery must be thinking that his day must be coming soon…

For now, the subject of Netflix’s explosive Making A Murderer documentary is still behind bars for the murder of Teresa Halbach.

But that doesn’t mean that there’s been no good news for the 53-year-old. This week, Avery got engaged to a legal secretary by the name of Lynn Hartman, from Las Vegas.

The pair have been secretly dating for the last eight months, communicating solely through letters and phone calls. Avery only met Hartman in person for the first time last week.

Despite spending an enormous portion of his life in prison, and now serving a sentence that could keep in incarcerated for the rest of his life, Avery is optimistic about his new love, saying “She’s going to be my future wife, and we’ll be laughing forever.”

“I’m happy, she treats me decent, she loves me, she’s kind of spoiling me right now. I just want to be happy and enjoy my life, I think I did enough time.”

With Dassey set to be released in the next 60 days, it’s been a good two months for the Avery camp. What happens next in Steven’s own case remains to be seen.
