Man in his 20s due in court on Thursday charged with attempted abduction of woman

A man arrested in connection with the assault and attempted abduction of a woman near Phoenix Park in Dublin is due to appear in court on Thursday morning.

The 20-year-old was rearrested on Wednesday evening after being questioned and released earlier the same day.

The woman, aged in her 60s, was approached by a man who attempted to force her into the boot of a car around 7.30am on Monday morning.

The woman managed to flee the scene and the car drove away via Blackhorse Avenue towards Dublin city centre.

Gardaí had previously questioned the man in relation to the incident.

The man is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court, number one, on Thursday morning at 10.30am charged in relation to the incident.
