Man in his 20s stabbed in Eyre Square in Galway

The incident occurred at approximately 10.20pm on Thursday night.

A man in his 20s received a number of apparent stab wounds in an incident that occurred in the Eyre Square area of Galway on Thursday night (13 August).

The man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway for treatment following the incident but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A man in his 40s was arrested and taken to Galway Garda station, where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. A knife has been recovered and is subject to analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.
