A man in his 30s has died following a crash in Cork

A man in his 30s has died following a crash in Cork.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist and a van that occurred in the townland of Dromanhane, Glantane Road, Mallow.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3.40pm.

The motorcyclist, a man in his late 30s, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the Mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place in due course.

The male driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was treated for shock at the scene.

The road is currently closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct their examination of the scene.

Local diversions are also in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any road users who may have witnessed the collision or have dash-cam footage, to contact them at Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

This is the second incident that saw someone die on the roads in Cork today, with a woman in her 60s having died near Baxter’s Bridge this morning.
