A man in his 40s has died following an incident in Bray on Saturday morning

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses.

Gardaí are investigating an incident which occurred on Main Street in Bray, County Wicklow early on Saturday morning.

Emergency services and members of An Garda Síochána attended the scene outside a hotel on Main Street after the incident took place at approximately 2am on Saturday 9 June.

A 45-year-old man was found unconscious with a serious head injury.

He was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for treatment where he was subsequently pronounced dead in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Investigating Gardaí are currently investigating all aspects of the incident in order to establish the facts.

The scene was sealed off to facilitate an official forensic examination.

A post-mortem will be carried out on Sunday by Dr Michael Curtis.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses.
