A man aged in his 20s has died following a fatal car crash in Monaghan

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision between two cars that occurred in Castleblayney in Monaghan on Tuesday morning at approximately 6.40am.

The two vehicles collided on the R181 in the townland of Muldrumman.

The driver of one car, a male aged in his 20s, was seriously injured during the collision and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he later passed away.

The road has since reopened and Gardaí in Castleblayney are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling in the Muldrumman area between 6.15am and 7.00am this morning who may have camera footage, including dash cam, are being asked to make the footage available to investigating Gardaí.
