Man arrested in connection with a gorse fire in Donegal

The gorse fire happened on Good Friday.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has confirmed that they arrested a man in connection with a Good Friday gorse fire. The arrest was made

He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Milford Garda Station and has since been released without charge. A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí have been investigating a fire on 19 April this year, which took over nine hours to go out. The fire raged between 1pm and 10.30pm.

Considerable damage was caused to a house in the Drumnacart & Annagry area, damage was caused to a tractor and various other items on the properties. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Investigations into the fire are ongoing.
