Man arrested for throwing basket at staff in Dublin shop

A man has been arrested for throwing a basket at staff in a Dublin shop on Saturday.

Gardaí received reports of a man acting aggressively and threatening staff at a retail premises in the Dame Street area on Saturday 4 April.

It is reported the man threw a shopping basket at staff during the incident which occurred at approximately 2.45pm.

No injuries were sustained during the incident.

The man, aged in his 30s, had left the premises but was located by Gardaí a short time later.

The man refused to provide his name to Gardaí and resisted arrest while threatening to cough on members stating he had coronavirus.

The man was taken to Pearse Street Garda Station where he has since been charged in relation to this incident.

He is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, on 6 April at 10.30am.

An Garda Síochana would continue to remind the public of the need for people to comply with physical distancing in line with HSE guidelines.
