A man has been arrested after multiple taxi drivers were robbed at knife point in Cork.
The man in his 30s was arrested by Gardaí at Mayfield following a number of recently reported robberies from Taxi drivers in Cork City.
On the 6 of October, a sum of cash was taken after a male Taxi driver in his 60s was threatened and robbed at knife point by a male passenger at Spring Lane, Blackpool.
On the 12 of October a male Taxi driver also in his 60s was threatened and robbed at knife point after picking up a male passenger on Thomas Davis Street. A sum of cash and mobile phone was taken from the driver.
In a third incident, a male Taxi driver in his 70s was threatened at knife point after picking up a passenger in the Mayfield area on the 13 of October. No property was taken.
It’s understood that in each case none of the drivers were physically injured.
Following these incidents a man aged in his 30s was arrested by investigating Gardaí on Saturday 16 October, in Cork City.
He is currently being detained for questioning at Mayfield Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Gardaí said on Sunday that enquiries into the incidents are currently ongoing.
