The arrest was made on Thursday night.

Gardaí investigating the fatal shooting of Bobby Messitt that occurred in Bray Boxing Club in The Harbour, Bray, on 5 June, 2018 have made an arrest.

A man in his 30s was arrested late on Thursday night and conveyed to Bray Garda Station, where he is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

Investigations are ongoing.

Married father of three Bobby Messett was killed when he was working out in Bray Boxing Club on the morning of the incident.

Pete Taylor, father of Irish boxer Katie Taylor, and Ian Britton were also injured in the incident.

Detectives at the time believed that Taylor was drawn into a dispute with drug dealers from west Dublin who decided to shoot him over a personal grudge.

However, in an interview with the Irish Independent, Taylor denied these claims and insisted he was only shot because he ran at the gunman.

He insisted he was baffled by the shooting and questioned, if he had been the target, why did the gunman wait until the gym was filled with people, rather than striking when Taylor opened the gym on his own each morning.

Taylor has been issued with a GIM form by Gardaí, warning of a threat against his life.
