A man attacked at a house party earlier this month has died, according to reports.

RTÉ has reported that the father-of-four, who was 41 years old, passed away on Thursday from serious head injuries sustained on 7 October while in attendance at a viewing party for Conor McGregor’s UFC 229 fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

After being attacked just outside Castleblayney, the man was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin but passed away on Thursday 18 October, 11 days after the attack.

A postmortem will now be performed to better understand the nature of the man’s death.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the attack.
