Very sad news.
A man in his 60s has died while climbing Mweelrea mountain, near Louisburgh in west Mayo.
A sudden death was reported to local Gardaí at approximately 3.40pm on Wednesday (4 September).
It is understood the man is from Dublin and was with family members at the time of the incident.
Emergency services attended the scene and his body was taken to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar for a post-mortem examination.
A report will now be submitted to the local Coroner as per the Coroners Act.
