Man dies following car crash in Clare

Tragic news.

An Garda Síochána have confirmed that a man has died following a road collision in Co. Clare. The incident occurred on a road in Castlefergus, Quin, Co. Clare at approximately 9:15pm last night (24 March).

Initial investigations by the Gardaí suggest that the man’s vehicle was the only car involved in the crash, and that he collided with a wall. He was pronounced dead at the scene and removed to University Hospital Limerick, where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

While the deceased man has not been publicly named, Gardaí have confirmed that he was in his 50s. He was the sole occupant of his vehicle at the time of the crash.

As of Monday morning, the stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The local coroner has been notified.
