Very sad news from Roscommon.
A man has dies after a kayaking incident that took place in Roscommon on Saturday afternoon. According to Newstalk, the man was kayaking on Lough Ree near Hudson Bay when something went wrong.
Shannonside FM had originally reported that “a man in his 40s” was in critical condition following an incident on Lough Ree, but more recent reports have confirmed that the man is indeed dead. He has not yet been publicly named.
Local RNLI attended the scene, as did the Coastguard helicopter, and the man was brought to Portiuncla Hospital at around midday. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead.
