Horribly sad news.
Dublin Fire Brigade has confirmed that an elderly man was found dead at a location in South Dublin after a fire earlier today (13 November). The man was pronounced dead on-site.
It was further been confirmed that the body of a dog was also discovered at the scene.
Dublin Fire Brigade responded to the fire with several units after the alarm was raised shortly after 3pm.
In a statement posted on their official Twitter page, the fire brigade wrote: “Unfortunately, following the earlier domestic fire on Merrion Road and search of the building, the remains of a male has been found, along with a dog. 3 crews from Donnybrook and HQ fought the fire. The first call was at approximately 3.10pm.”
